We all have to be marketers to survive as entrepreneurs, regardless of what it is we’re selling. I wanted to tell you about a special free course I’ve learned was recently released that can help you market literally anything to any market. It’s an extremely simple strategy that works every time — and if you’re an online publisher, it can easily solve all of your problems.
You may want to publish online for profit. Maybe you want to sell info-products. I assume that’s why you read what I post in the Portal. If you’ve been following along any time at all, you know that the power of publishing – especially social publishing as it applies today – will help you build . . . → Read More: The Most Powerful Marketing Strategy Ever Known

Here’s a perfect example of the “Internet Marketing” biz-op mentality taking its toll as it makes things worse for everyone.
I love Amazon’s Kindle. You can debate all day the differences between Amazon’s technology and Barnes & Noble’s Nook. The bottom line is that Amazon’s Kindle holds by far the largest market share of the two. And Amazon’s online self-publishing system, now tied their Kindle, is what I truly love. It makes it easy for any author of any book to upload their work and make it available to the huge audience of Kindle owners at no cost.
Amazon pays you a commission for every copy it sells for you, at the price you set.
It’s a game-changer, when it comes to independent publishing. . . . → Read More: Amazon Kindle Spam: Many Hurt By Avalanche

Rumors have been spreading like wildfire ever since “Uncle” Alan R. Bechtold, publisher of Uncle Alan’s Info-Publishing and Marketing Portal, released the first chapter of his new book, “Time Bombs,” on the Portal. Most of the speculation seems to center around the publisher/author’s whereabouts since that first chapter appeared.
Bechtold warned his readers the book would be explosive. But, even though the opening chapter is all that’s been revealed so far, a firestorm of buzz has already ensued.
The fact that Bechtold hasn’t been seen anywhere around the Portal since he released the first chapter of “Time Bombs” hasn’t helped the situation, but rumors now flowing all over are generally agreed to be taking things a bit far.

It’s 2011. 2010 is finally behind us. It was another tough year for many, following a couple of even rougher years ahead of it.
For myself, the end of 2010 held so many positive ramifications that it took a couple of weeks to fully settle in – thus the delayed nature of this post and my long absence posting here.
Don't keep making resolutions you're just going to break — make a concise list of INTENTIONS and roll with them!
Here at the Portal, I took a lot of December off from posting to deal with a lot of issues (including launching an entirely new business), and playing catch-up on some major projects I’d fallen too far behind on through the . . . → Read More: A New Year!

A lot of people have asked me what I think about the whole WikiLeaks flap. You know – the Website that’s pouring out sensitive government information left and right.
Since I’ve pretty much made online publishing my life and WikiLeaks is a very loud example of stretching the limits of freedom of the press, it stands to reason I might have an opinion.
First, the patriot in me wonders how what WikiLeaks is doing is any different than what any foreign spy would be found guilty of treason for doing. The one major difference is that WikiLeaks is releasing sensitive secret information to the entire world – not just tattling to a single enemy willing to pay the most money.

The "L2 Digital IQ Index: Public Sector" is an excellent resource for serious social publishers.
NASA and the White house both top other public sector organizations when it comes to social media and online strategy. The news, arising from the release of a new report by The George Washington University School of Business’ (GWSB) “digital think-tank,” shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Public sector entities have managed to latch onto Web 2.0 online strategies in a big way, so there’s plenty of competition for the top spot. However, even though online strategies are clearly the most cost-effective way for public sector agencies to go, Washington obviously has a . . . → Read More: Tops In Social Media: NASA And The White House

A Reuters story recently quoted Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, who said, “From the very beginning this has seemed almost as if it’s a news wire coming from everywhere around the world …. I think a Twitter News Service would be something that would be very open and shared with many different news organizations around the world.”
Naturally, word of this idea, spoken publicly, spread quickly. Soon, reports were flying all over that a Twittter news service was eminent.
However, TechCrunch quickly followed up with a report on some tweets from Sean Garrett, the communications guy at Twitter. According to TechCrunch, Sean said Stone was “just being imaginative” and there are no real plans for a “Twitter news service.”

I’ve suspected for a long while now that marketers are using social media more than ever. Here’s some further validation that your Uncle Alan isn’t far off on his thinking…
PJA Advertising Marketing, a three-time BtoB Agency of the Year winner, has teamed up with Corporate Executive Board’s Marketing Leadership Council to announce the results of their first joint research survey of social media use among marketing professionals.
This survey series is designed to provide insights from senior marketing executives and professionals on topical issues that affect decision-making. The results were all I needed to see to prove my feelings were correct.
More than 350 marketers participated in the survey, which was conducted in July and August, 2010. They shared insights on . . . → Read More: Use of Social Media Among Global Marketing Executives Surges

The Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) Summit 2010 conference concluded Friday, November 19, at the Bally’s Hotel in Las Vegas. WOMMA Summit is the official word of mouth marketing industry conference, focusing on creating talkable brands through next and best practices in word of mouth and social marketing.
I know this is serious stuff. WOMMA is without doubt an important meeting of an important group of savvy social publishers working with great importance to anyone utilizing or interested in utilizing word-of-mouth marketing best practices.
But my funny bone is tickled a little bit and I won’t be able to get on with the important stuff without first asking: if this is a group of experts in word-of-mouth marketing, why did I . . . → Read More: WOMMA Summit 2010 in Las Vegas Concludes
